I would like to have some recommendations to improve specifically the needs. I really don't know how to identify my needs. For me is very difficult to identify my needs and relate them to the standards because at this moment I'm not working formally as a teacher. So I will very thankful to receive some recommendations from you.

CURRENT ABILITY
I use audio and video clips in order to improve my knowledge on different areas. For example I use Teachertube and Youtube to learn how to use different medias, most of the times I look for tutorials or to watch experiments on the usage of different psychological theories, for example the experiment of Piaget's experiments. Also I recently learned how to download free podcast from ITunes store into my IPod.
NEED
I need to identify the web sites where to find
GOAL
Given a selection of Educational Psychology podcasts, I will be able to listen a podcast once a week and write a summary or a reflection on what I listened and the educational implications
MEASURE
By the end of this year (2010) I will listen at least 1 podcast every week and by the beginning of next year I will set my schedule in outlook to have reminders to listen the podcast.

- I will look for different podcast related with educational technology and psychology.
- I will create a selection of the best places to find podcast related with educational technology and psychology.
- I will listen the podcast selected at least once a week
LONG TERM PLAN
- I will took notes while I am listening the podcast
- I will write a reflection on what I listened and the educational implications
- I will post these summaries into my blog in order to share the podcast and the review with others.
ASSESSMENT
I will be successful when I have set up my schedule in outlook (OU email account) as reminder to listen a podcast every week and be able to write at the beginning of next year at least 20 reviews of the podcast that I listened and published on my Blog.
I think your need could be that you need to stay up to date on educational technology while you are a student. You can create a portfolio from your reviews to show future employers during interviews.(Or show them your blog)
ReplyDeleteAnother short term plan could be to research and identify podcast websites. Long term plan would then be to research these sites to find relevant podcasts to incorporate into your lesson plans.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, looking for collaborative sites for teachers in your field of interest would be another good short term goal. I remember reading in the Web 2.0 book and the ELL book several mentions of websites like this. I participate in a site like this for my area of interest. I find it helpful. Part of the standard addresses face to face environments also. Scheduling interviews with more experience people in your field of interest could also be a viable medium.

It looks great so far! As far as your needs, just listing that you need to continue to educate yourself on topics you don't already know about or upcoming trends and technologies. I think this area is sometimes the obvious things and they are things we don't normally think about.
