I would like to use the program Audacity, because the majority of the students that take Spanish at the University of Oklahoma need to use this program to record short oral presentations with the directions of his/her professor give to them. Also in the students that I tutor, they are enrolled in Spanish on-line courses. They already know how to download the program and the support program for audacity that is lame in order to export the file as MP3. But I would like to focus my lesson and the strategies that I will use in the editing of the audio file, because I believe that if they learn how to edit their oral presentations, they will have the opportunity to create a variety of versions and cut and paste the best options.

I think it's great that professors are using recording software for assignments. That's a good way for students to check their pronunciation.

I think that using audacity as a practice tool for students wanting to learn Spanish is an excellent idea. What better way to learn correct pronunciation than to hear, practice, and record yourself to see how you sound.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to be an excellent teacher!!!
Voice samples are a great way to give student feedback. I love the idea of sequencing samples to present a best case presentation. Good idea!
ReplyDeleteNot only are you teaching them about Audacity for the purpose of your assignment but maybe they will use it in other academic areas as well!
